My story
How I ended up in Madrid
None of it was decided in a day: the plan came together one step at a time, from secondary school all the way to Madrid.

Wanting to become a vet
I have always had a strongly science-oriented profile, with a particular interest in scientific subjects. In secondary school I naturally chose Mathematics, Life & Earth Sciences and Physics-Chemistry in Year 12, then Mathematics and Physics-Chemistry in Year 13. I passed my baccalauréat with honours.
After secondary school I spent a year in a French Biological Engineering degree, majoring in Food Science and Biotechnology. That year let me consolidate my scientific knowledge and explore the field of biotechnology further, while taking the time to think through my career plans.
Getting my Spanish ready
I took private lessons with a teacher, did a one-week language course in Madrid and spent a month as an au pair with a Spanish family.

Applying, then leaving
I also used that year to improve my Spanish, with the goal of continuing my studies in Spain. I eventually applied to several universities across Europe and joined Universidad Europea de Madrid, where I am now studying veterinary medicine.

Studying at UEM
The veterinary programme at Universidad Europea de Madrid lasts 5 to 6 years: its length is currently changing. The current programme represents 300 ECTS credits.
My veterinary classes at Universidad Europea de Madrid are taught in Spanish.

Today, and next
I am currently in my fifth and final year of veterinary school and will graduate in June 2027.
After graduating, my goal is to continue my clinical training with an internship in small animal medicine, to deepen my knowledge and clinical experience, with the ambition of moving on to a possible specialisation.

Student supported through the application process They helped me put together my university application and made my enrolment at Universidad Europea de Madrid much easier. They even organised a full campus visit. A group brought together all the students who applied through them, which helped us get to know each other and support one another. They followed up regularly, with a message as soon as there was any news.
